Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and second largest city in Spain. Barcelona first made headlines in 1992 when the Olympics were held there and since then it has never looked back. A lively city centre, busy port, fashionable shops, excellent restaurants and many wonderful architectural wonders are just a few of the reason why Barcelona has become one of the most visited cities in Europe.

If you are wondering what to do in Barcelona then for sightseeing you have any number of excellent attractions, The Picasso Museum, Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece La Sagrada Família and the magnificent Gothic Cathedral on Placa de la Seu are are to name but a few.

The Barri Gòtic old town has now become a smart Barrio with trendy shops and fashionable restaurants tucked away in the warren of cobbled medieval alleyways. The Las Ramblas runs from Placa Catalunya to the Columbus statue, a wide bustling avenue lined with street artist, bars, restaurants and market traders. For shopping then it is worth a visit to the Paseo de Gracia home to the big brands and designer labels.

It's an enthralling vibrant city with plenty to see and do.
